Crete has a great number of herbs , more than any other part of Europe. Local cuisine uses them in order to add flavour, aroma and important elements to the food they prepare. The most often used herbs are oregano, thyme, laurel, mint and fennel. Cretans enjoy a special kind of tea called “malotira” brewed with “mantzourana” or maybe some “diktamos” leaves- the most aromatic and healthiest herbs you have ever tasted .
